All curriculum follows diocesan standards. Teachers will supplement the curriculum with additional resources based on students' needs in terms of remediation, practice, and enrichment.
Math: Big Ideas Math
ELA: Amplify, DCIR, Literature/book studies
Social Studies: GIANTS/MI Open Book project, online resources for grades K-2

Students are afforded opportunities for additional practice and enrichment through various online resources such as Ascend Math, Epic, and many others.
NWEA MAP testing
Students take the NWEA MAP test three times each year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Results are sent home to parents, and teachers use the data to drive instruction. Students take the following tests:
K-2: Math and Reading
Grades 3-8: Math, Reading, Language, Science

Title I
Saint Basil is blessed to have a Title I teacher to work with students who would benefit from additional 1:1 practice in the areas of math and ELA. NWEA fall MAP scores, along with teacher input and classroom observations, is used to determine those students participating in Title I services. Title I services are provided and paid for with Title money via South Haven Public Schools.
Students with Special Needs
Given that we are a private school, Saint Basil does not write or service students with IEPs. However, South Haven Public/Van Buren ISD will test students, and provide IEPs and services for students who qualify for speech, hearing, PT and OT. Students who qualify will have an IEP written outlining services to be provided by others.
Saint Basil does work with families with students who have been found to need adaptations to their learning in order to ensure their academic success. Adaptations vary according to doctor/testing recommendations, the child's needs, and what the school can accommodate. Adaptations are written up as a 504 plan with input from those working with the child: doctors, parents, teachers, and possibly the child.
